Pneumatic Forklifts

Pneumatic Forklifts

Extensively used in shipping facilities, the pneumatic forklift or pallet vehicle, may be used to carry materials that are positioned on top of pallets. A pneumatic lift truck typically has a pair of metal forks mounted on a wheeled counterbalance that also has a pump. The pump is used to elevate and lower the forks.

Visually inspect the pallet vehicle before loading. Make sure the wheels are clear of any impending obstacles. Also, ensure the handle moves smoothly and turns properly. Inspect the pallet prior to moving it to assess if it is stacked in a way that minimizes the possibility of anything falling off during lifting. Discharge any air in the pump and drop the forks to the floor by squeezing the lever mounted on the inside of the metal loop on the end of the handle. Slide the blades into the slots in the pallet and ensure the blades are centered so that the pallets’ weight is evenly spread.

By pumping the pneumatic jack handle the blades will rise from the ground. Once there is full clearance, you can discontinue pumping as there is no need to elevate the hoist to any further extent. To move the pallet jack, you may tow the handle behind you. It is not recommended to push the pallet vehicle. There will be a large amount of momentum present. Refrain from quick or sharp turns and don't stop too abruptly. Gently bring the pallet to a halt where you would like to park it. Squeeze the handle within the handle end to restore the forks to the floor. Withdraw the blades and restore the pallet jack to a proper parking area or continue onto the next job.
